c.g. shift on freighter aircraft
hi all
i am working on a freighter floor and have to account for c.g. shift of the contents of the contains. do i use 5%, 10% or other. also, do i have to account for adjacent containers shifting in different directions. is there and certificating authority guidance on this.
any information would be appreciated.

there are no regulations relating to this that i know of. you need to be conservative and take into account the potential for shifting. this depends a lot on the design of the restriant systems and the loading instructions. i am aware of an faa rule of thumb being 5%. at the end of the day you have to justify your choice.
