block entities are not erased after the block deleting
hi,
is it normal after deleting a block with entities, the relevant entity ids to remain not erased?
sample code(odamfcapp ver.2.2.0)
code:
oddbobjectid id;
oddbobjectid id1, id2;
{
oddbblocktableptr ptable = m_pdb->getblocktableid().safeopenobject(oddb::kforwrite);
oddbblocktablerecordptr precord = oddbblocktablerecord::createobject();
precord->setname(odstring("testblock"));
id = ptable->add(precord);
}
{
oddbblocktablerecordptr ptablerec = id.safeopenobject(oddb::kforwrite);
oddblineptr pline1 = oddbline::createobject();
oddblineptr pline2 = oddbline::createobject();
id1 = ptablerec->appendoddbentity(pline1);
id2 = ptablerec->appendoddbentity(pline2);
}
if(id1.iserased())
afxmessagebox("line1 is not correctly created");
{
oddbblocktablerecordptr ptablerec = id.safeopenobject(oddb::kforwrite);
ptablerec->erase();
}
{
oddblineptr pline1 = id1.safeopenobject(oddb::kforwrite);
pline1->setstartpoint(odgepoint3d::korigin);
}
//check for the erased ids
if(!id.iserased())
afxmessagebox("block is not erased");
if(!id1.iserased())
afxmessagebox("line1 is not erased");
if(!id2.iserased())
afxmessagebox("line2 is not erased");
thanks,
nino
hi,
when oddbentity::erase() function is used, the entities are only "marked" for erase. hence, i think erased oddbobjectids are removed from memory only when the oddbdatabase goes out of scope.

answer would be : yes.
you may try oddbobjectid::iseffectivelyerased() function and see if you get expected result.

hi,
thanks for the attention. but in that case the entities are even not marked for erase. so, the problem is still open.

jaisam is absolutely right. erasing block table record does not make entities erased. but iseffectivelyerased() would return true for such entities because their owner (the block table record) is erased.

thanks, sergey.
so, does it mean that if a block is deleted, all the entities in it should be deleted manually? because if i call safeopenobject(oddb::kforwrite) for some of them, it's opened correctly.

the entities from deleted (erased) block table record will not be saved to file even if they were not erased.
even if you erase them they will stay in memory untill dbdatabase is destroyed.

thanks again, sergey.
in fact, we don't worry about the memory. just asking about the following situation:
we have a block, and its entities participate in a group. once the block is deleted, the entities in it are not erased (just marked). so, doest it mean that
they should be manually erased from all the groups they belongs to.
thanks in advance,
nino
