vb express 2008 addin template
where i can find the template for vb express 2008 addin?
in the download site, i see the tempalte for 2005 and it doesn' seem to convert correctly to 2008

i don't believe that there is a vb2008 template.
the vb2005 template works fine for me in vb2008. i have been using it for a while now without any issues. what problems are you having?

i followd this readme
setting up the visual studio 2005 vb.net addin template.
1) register solidworkstools.dll in the global assembly cache
either
- in file explorer, locate "c:\windows\assembly".
- drag and drop solidworkstools.dll into that directory.
or
- run gacutil /i from the sdk/visual studio 2005 command promt
2) copy swvbaddin.zip to visual studio 2005's visual basic project template location.
to find this location:
- launch visual studio 2005
- click on the tools -> options menu
- expand "projects and solutions"
- click on "general"
- the second entry should be "visual studio user project templates location"
- in that directory is one specifically for visual basic.
that is where you want to place the swvbaddin.zip file.
simply leave it zipped; just copy it to that location.
now when you create a new project in visual studio 2005, and select visual basic as the language,
you should see "swvbaddin" as a template choice.
and got the error mesg when i run vbexpress 2008 - see att. image

that error usually means you need to repair something on your system. try re-installing visual studio as all the messing around has probably corrupt something, and download the template again
i tried on different computer and got the same error mesg
there is something to do with the version but i could not figure it out
reintall the software won't solve the problem

then it is probably your methodology of registering the dll in the first place. are you using regasm or gacutil or just drag/drop?
i finally got it working now
somehow i had problem with the drag/drop .dll file into the window/assembly

i've used gacutil /i, ensured the .zip file is in the correct visual studio user project templates location, and no matter what i do i cannot get the template to show up.
any thoughts? any way someone can provide me with the set of vs2008 file that the template generates?
