solidworks api not updated yet for 2009?
sorry i raised this on the general forum first before i realised it might apply here as well:
i'm a hypershot user, and when solidworks 2008 came out i found out that hypershot didn't support the new file format immediately so i had to revert back to sw2007 for a couple of months. now i have been beta testing solidworks 2009 all the way throughand i want to start using it for production work soon, but, i depend on hypershot for product rendering. so this time i thought i'd check before making the leap and sure enough hypershot doesn't support the sw2009 file format yet.
i asked why and here is the answer i received (saying i would raise this on the sw forum):

so i am left with the dilemma, i want to start use sw2009 now but i need hypershot rendering. the only option i then have is to export as a non native file format into hypershot (and so lose all the texture mapping properties).
question. sw2009 beta was a shortish process and the file format remained the same through the last few releases. so why isn't this api issue available upon release when bunkspeed has so many solidworks customers?
do i really have to wait another month or two before i can integrate sw2009 into my workflow?
it looks like solidworks has posted the 2009 displaylist retrieval example to the api examples page.
unfortunately the example crashes when i try and load a very simple assembly that was re-saved as solidworks 2009.
does anybody have any information on this?
