soil bearing capacity
i wish to obtain a correlation between allowable soil bearing capacity and (kn/m2) and the california bearing ratio (cbr). this may be in graphic or formula format

"basic soil engineering", b.k. hough, 2nd ed., ronald press, 1969, appendix v, table av-2 "characteristics of unified soil classification system pertinent to roads and airfields" correlates cbr to soil classification. from there one could make an approximate determination of soil bearing capacity.

i've tried the fax number you posted 44 1636 610696, but my fax machine reports an error - no answer. please verify that it's the right number and your fax machine is turned on.
you have also that in pca's
a foundation primer
we should be careful using the correlations between cbr and bearing capacity outside their intended field, which is road layerworks design.
the correlations may be inaccurate if applied to foundations.
steve, the fax number is correct but this is not the first time that i have had communication problems with fax machines between the us and uk. i do not need an answer urgently so i will try and obtain the document here. thankyou for all your effort.
ribeneke, i do agree that the correlation is outside the intended field but it does compare to some extent to a plate bearing test and hence the reason for some possible correlation.
