lawsuits over seismic or hurricane damage (rewrite)
hello fellow structural engineers,
i am a licenced and practicing structural engineer in washington, and i am doing research into lawsuits that have been brought against us for damage due to earthquakes or hurricanes. however, i am having trouble finding any cases where this has happened, although i suppose that is a good thing. i should clarify that i do not work for any lawyers, nor am i called upon to be an expert witness.
i am merely researching this for my own knowledge.
(yes, this same post was on here yesterday, but it was removed)
does anyone know of any cases where building owners, tenants or individuals have attempted (or succeeded) in suing either the architect, contractor, or structural engineer for damage due to earthquakes or hurricanes?

talk to someone at wiss janney elstner or a similar firm that does failure investigations and legal consultation. wje has a seattle office and their contact information is on their website. i went to school with one of their engineers and that's pretty much all he does.
