hello sir, in one of my project i have faced a problem thats why i need your suggestion.
soil report says that ground water table is 4 ft below the existing ground level and the its a clay condition. so i have decided to improve soil by providing sand lime pile below 10 ft where bearing capacity was suggested .85 tsf as per soil report.after performing soil treatment i want to provide mat foundation. so my question is
a) is it alright as ground water table was found 4 ft below the existing ground level when i am providing foundation level below 10 ft?
b) if it is not alright then what is the solution?

i've never worked with a sand lime pile. does it function similarly to an acp?
unless there are problems with the soil, the fact that a mat foundation is located below the water table is ok. this is common in many locations for both light and heavy loads.
the bigger question is why you think you need to do ground improvement. perhaps a bit more information - you might not be required/need to provide it. further to what sre indicated, if you have an 'integral' foundation below the water table, you also need to consider uplift (say if acting like basement).

thanks for the answer. actually i want to improve soil because its a clay soil at 10 ft below the egl. and the bearing capacity for that level is 0.85 tsf for mat foundation.and we get hard stratum at 150ft level. if i improve the soil then it will be more then 1.25 tsf (minimum).i think it is ok for 6 storied building. i hope so. so my question to you all
do you think 0.85 tsf is sufficient for mat foundation on clay soil? if not then what to do?
