i have built a debug version of an application using msvc 6.0 containing the drawing direct libraries. after setting breakpoints and selecting start debug, i get an error message that says "one or more breakpoints cannot be set & have been disabled ..."
as a result of this, i can't step thru the various breakpoints i have set up in the application.
has anyone experienced this?
where might be a lot of reasons. in general vc is unable to find in binaries the place matching the line in source code.
possible reasons:
you set breakpoint in dll source and the dll is not loaded yet.
project was built without debug info.
project was built with sources from another folder.
you set breakpoint at line which was not compiled (the line is inside something like #if 0, the file is not included into project).
etc.

thanks for the info but i do not think it is any of the ones you mentioned.
i think that the exception breakpoint is being raised by one of the modules in dwg direct which i do not have the source code for. is this possible?

i was trying to answer your question:
i get an error message that says "one or more breakpoints cannot be set & have been disabled ..."
dd debug libs contain assertions which can raise debug exception if some checks fail.
default action for failed assertions can be overridden by calling odsetassertfunc(). see diagnostics.h
