hi,
is it possible to add a paint and it's thickness/weight/sq-metre to selected faces of a structure.
the weight of a 3-coat paint is going to have a significant effect on a structure's centre of gravity.

if the structure is an assy, create a new part (representing the paint) by creating a set of zero offset surfaces and thickening them.
if it's a weldment, insert it into a new assy, and then do as above.
yep, this a perfect application of the virtual components that were added to sw '08.
