2）How is an inspection plan created?
An inspection plan is created utilizing PC-DMIS Inspection Planner. This product provides a series of specialized tools that WAI has added to each of the CAD systems we are integrating with. These tools have been created as a 'plug-in' module for each specific CAD system. They allow the CAD programmer to build an inspection plan by selecting from the model. The plan will be include in the model the information that is relevant to inspection of the part downstream, regardless of the device that will fulfill the requirements of the inspection plan.
3）What are the benefits of having an inspection plan?
There are several major benefits. First is the achievement of a vastly more efficient method for inspection program creation. In fact, PC-DMIS is now able to automatically generate a part program by inputting an inspection plan. Second is management of changes as the master model is modified and updated. As a model changes, the inspection plan in that model is automatically updated. The next logical step is to update the part program based on the new inspection plan, completing the cycle.
Both of these benefits combine to create a tightly controlled flow of information between design, manufacturing, and inspection. This results in tremendous time savings in the manufacturing environment, and that translates to cost savings. As the inspection plan represents a link between the model and the inspection function in the manufacturing environment, it allows for the dynamic management of the flow of vital information between inspection requirements. Should the model change, the inspection requirements may also change.
