默认 wind load on open structure

wind load on open structure
how do you handle the wind on an open structure such as a gazebo or open porch attached to a residentail structure?
ansi/asce only addresses open structure with monoslope roof.
does anyone know of available reference material on the web??
find a job or post a job opening
asce 7-05 has updated much of the material on open structures compared to 7-02 and now includes components and cladding as well as main wind pressures.
the guide to wind loads on structures has an example of an open porch attached to a residence. the primary structure (enclosed) is the basis for calculating the wind pressures on the porch in that reference.
mjl:
to which guide are you referring? where is it?
thanks for the response
ucfse
nc is still using th 02 version
mjl23 that doesn't seem right the enclose structure is less than a partially closed structure and should be way less than a completly open structure
depends what you are looking at i guess. if the porch is attached to the enclosed structure and shares a common roof line, wind flowing over the house and then leeward over the porch doesn't know if the porch is enclosed or not. on the windward side i think the porch would be similar to a roof overhang, so it gets positive pressures on the underside and negative pressures on the top side.
but don't take my word for it, check for yourself: "guide to the use of the wind load provisions of asce 7-02"
mjl:
thanks for the link to that book.
