how to model flat floor slab (possibly with a drop panels)?
- including column bending stiffness above and below slab
or
- without incl. column bending stiffness?
this is important mainly for deformation check.
i have some more questions:
is there code restrictions (according to ubc ,aci, fema ) regarding axial column normalized forces to primary seismic elements and which is the ratio? ( similar to ec8 - this norm. axial force should not exceed 0.55 )
also: is there restrictions on the size of rc building in plane regarding to temperature and seismic loads?
p.s.
i am civil engineer. i have some experience with csi products and modeling behavior.
for deflection it would be slightly conservative to ignore the column stiffness.
