默认 side member attachmen

side member attachment
i have a situation where there is an existing wood beam which is undersized, it fails due to bending moment, shear is ok. i have sized new members and specified a bolting pattern for the new members to attach to the old members as the old ones need to be left in place. there is no easy way to get bearing (or face mount hangers) on the new side members.
can i not provide end bearing for the new members as long as:
1. i have proper bolting to transfer shear & bending moment at the ends into the old members.
2. i have proper bearing area on the old members
3. i analyze the existing members for 100% of the shear at the ends (since bending moment is minimal at the ends)
am i missing anything? i am thinking as long as i look at the above things i should be ok?
thanks a bunch.

don't forget to account for the bolt holes in your shear anaylsis.
