默认 rod bracing connection

rod bracing connection
i have an existing building where i need to put rod x-bracing. does anyone know of a detail for connecting rod bracing to a tube column? the other end, the rod bracing will connect to a wide flange but the web is parallel to the rod, i.e. the rod will connect to the flange?
i like to use a gusset plate welded to the column with a clevis and pin to connect the rod to the plate (see page 15-14 of aisc 13ed.). i think you could use a similar connection to the wide flange.
use an angle with the ends of the legs welded to the column.
just pick and angle that is big enough to bolt through and gives you the right angle.
how long of rods are you using?
if you have long rods, i would recommend making sure you have some way of 'tightening' or 'unslackening' the rods after erection or they may tend to sag quite a bit.
a turnbuckle somewhere along the length of the rod is our standard way of handling this.
we also clamp the rods together at their intersection so they do not slab against each other.
jmho.
do you attach the plate the clevis is attached to both at the bottom of the beam and the column?
if that gives you a concentric connection, then yes, that's best. depends on the angle of the rod, size of the beam, etc., but of course you want the working point of the rod to be at the center of the column and beam.
