perforated roof subdiaphragms
greetings all,
i am looking for information regarding the design of roof sub-diaphragm that have several penetrations, like in a restaurant. i have a copy of apa l350 and the "design of wood structures" by breyer, fridley and the rest, but most of the examples are for un-penetrated roof diaphragms. would i be wrong in thinking that i can approach the roof diaphragm system as a series of stacked shear walls and treat the penetrated sub-diaphragm as a perforated shear wall? any thoughts or reference suggestions would be appreciated. thanks.

can you make and post a roof plan showing the diaphragm with opening locations and sizes? major beam locations and roof structure would help too.

sorry, i don't have a sketch. i am researching the topic for a co-worker that has "roof sub-diaphragms" listed as part of design criteria for san diego. the question centers around how to approach the design and what is required by the city of san diego. unfortuneately they are not prompt in returning calls, hence my posting.
