with c&c wind loads, the ibc 2000, now has a 0.7 factor that you can use in association with table 1604.3, for deflection limits. since brick deflection limits are not listed in this table, i assume that we are not allowed to use this reduction factor when calculating deflection for brick venneer with metal or wood stud backup.
is this how others are interpreting this?
i would consider brick a brittle finish. you could justify it also considering the interior finish on the studs likely being wallboard. then use the 0.7 c&c wind load reduction to limit the deflection.
