ibc 2000 - half stresses in masonry?
i have a project in which i am using the 2000 ibc, and am using the 2002 version of aci 530 for masonry design. i cannot seem to find the half-stresses provision for designing without special inspection that was given in the 1997 ubc section 2107.1.2. my question: is special inspection now provided for all masonry construction, or is the designer still allowed to use half-stresses without special inspection with ibc 2000?

ibc: half stresses are essentially gone. all masonry has some level of inspection (levels 1 - 3 in aci 530)
thanks. was this also the case for the 1999 aci 530?
i believe so...i think whenever you see the aci530 levels 1, 2, and 3 inspections, you aren't dealing with the older ubc special inspection 1/2 stresses anymore.
