foundation of large steel tank?
how to design a large cylindrical watertank foundation?
suggest you post in foundation engineering forum and check threads there. has been some recent discussion of this issue that might be helpful.
for the basics, go to my website (see the link below) and download the classic paper "oil tank foundations - boberg". (i'm sure the foundation does not "care" if there is water or oil in the tank.)
as ron has pointed out - this has been a topic of more than a few threads in the last 6 to 12 months. use of concrete ring wall or not? one question that keeps arising (mainly because i've never used one and i've designed more than a couple of large diameter tank foundations).
