fire rating of concrete-filled hss column sections
i am designing exposed exterior hss18.000x0.500 columns to support a roof above an interior atrium space. since the columns are visually exposed and also exposed to the elements, i am reluctant to recommend intumescent piant for fire protection as it will experience uv degradation over time. i have recommended filling the columns with concrete as an alternate to intumescent piant; then simply painting the columns a weather resistant grade of paint.
can some one direct me to where/how i can qualify the fire rating of the resultant composite column sections?

maybe you can find something in ul which suits your case.
how about dropping a cage of rebar in there and making it a concrete column with steel cladding?
