embedment depth for cantilevered pole structure
are there any procedures or charts for determining the required embedment depth for a pole structure with lateral loads?
i need to design a wood utility pole to support a dish antenna 18' above grade in a high wind zone.

try 2003 ibc section 1805.7.

enercalc has a "pole embedment in soil" calculation sheet. you can download a demo for free. you can't use it for work unless you buy it but it might serve as a sanity check.
