drag strut/collector design in high wind regions
i work in the engineering department of a modular home company. i have to deal with building homes in a lot of high wind regions along the east coast. everytime we do i can either use the code book (2003 irc) or the wfcm. if that does not work we have to send it to a p.e. to get calcutlated. i noticed he uses drag struts and collectors. i know what they are i know how they work, but i would like to know how to calculate collectors, and how all the calcs for shear work? if anyone has some advice or maybe some where i can find info that would be great.
try the textbook 'design of wood structures' by donald breyer.
