默认 design of spreader bar for lifting load

design of spreader bar for lifting load
we are palnning to lift a 25 mt load by crane. two 6 mts. slings will be utilized. about 3.5 mts. from load a spreader bar is required to be placed between two slings so as to protect the delicate portion of the load.
it seems the spreader bar will be under compresson and can be designed as long column susseptible to buckling.
any idea / tip for safe design of the spreader bar
check out our whitepaper library.
get someone who know's what they're doing to design it!!
like these guys:
gasprocess:
you are correct that the spreader bar will be under compressive load. also, if the ends where the cables from the crane are not attached at the neutral axis of the spreader bar, there will also be a bending moment induced in the beam which add to the buckling issue.

dave
so design it as a column with bending loads, if applicable. refer to aisc-asd or other building or design codes for allowable stresses.
check bearing, pull-out, and weld strength at your connecting points, also.
don't forget to add the spreader beam weight to the bending moment calculation.
thanks guys for the valuable tips. i really appricite these tips.
could you please indicate wher to find the relevent code for selecting the al;lowable stress. i do not have a copy of aisc-asd.
regards
don't have aisc asd? i recommend that you buy it.
