challenge brace angle kit dimensioning
challenge brace angle kit dimensioning
our fabrication shop encounters a problem. i assigned them 1 1/2" gage angle but according to the aisc standard said we need at least 1 3/4". shop's said it's too narrow to drill by machine and has to use hand drill for the gage. i have no problem approve shop to 1 3/4" but i am afraid that it will affect other right and left dimensions of the angles. how do i make this decision and wonder if any of you encounter similar situation and how do you deal with it so that i will meet shop's objective and engineering.
check out our whitepaper library.
i am not sure what you mean by "it will affect other right and left dimensions of the angle"? i must agree that 1.5 inch gage is too small. as long as you mantain aisc edge distances and have clearance for impact wrench you should be ok.
let me know if i am missing something?
good luck
dear lutfi,
i am surprise that i am posting a question that i am not too sure if i state all details for someone to understand it. but you did, you answer it right, i also think 1.5 inch gage is too small. i use 1.75" gage instead. i don't know if it will affect the right and left dimensions to adjusted location for the nut& bolt slots.
