carport wind load
what is the wind uplift load on a free standing or attached one side only ( to a house) lightweight alumunum carport sturcture.
asce-7 shows uplift for enclosed and partially enclosed structures but implies there is only horizontal wind load on open (all sides) structure. am i missing something?

you aren't missing something, asce 7 is. your options are to make an educated guess with your engineering judgment and the information you do have or find another code that addresses the problem.
the australian wind code as/nzs 1170.2 does cover this situation. coefficients vary from +1.2 to - 1.5, depending on relative heights (canopy to bldg) and canopy width.
