bridges in environmentally sensitive areas
i am interested in various techniques for bridge construction in environmentally sensitive areas such as wetlands. techniques along the lines of launched or top-down construction. does anyone have any suggestions?
check out our whitepaper library.
depends on the design of the bridge, not all bridges are tall, long span "glamorous" structures. thirty foot flat slab (or similar) spans on driven steel or prestressed concrete piling can be constructed very well with out heavy equipment ever "setting foot" in the wetlands, creek, marsh, etc. all pile driving, concrete forming, placing concrete and form removal can be performed from a previously constructed span (after proper concrete strength is reached of course).
other times temporary trestles may be of value.
i'm sure there are many other more elaborate techniques for "higher dollar" projects.
what is the bridge servicing? people or vehicles?
the bridge is servicing vehicles and in some areas will need to span 600+ feet.
