allowable flexural tension for masonry
table 2.2.3.2 in the aci 530 gives values for flexural tension. would normal to bed joint mean my masonry wall would be spanning vertically? i get this confused everytime i look at it. thanks

yes. the bed joint is the horizontal joint - so normal to that is vertical, which is the direction of the tension stress you get for a wall spanning vertically.
