does anyone know where i could get some info (free) on
recommended hole size & depth's for standard o-ring seals?

parker has an excellent and free o-ring handbook.
i believe this manufacturer is called parker-nichols and is in mass.
this site gives info. on o-rings. the type of o-rings depend on what you are sealing and the pressure. if pressure is > 1500psi you will need back-up rings.
o-ring sizes are standardized:
