默认 ansi 9standards0 code issues - standard notes for holes

ansi standard notes for holes
can someone give me some examples of standard through hole call-outs.
i use gd&t on most call-outs.
usually a true position.
here is a typical dimension on a 4 hole pattern.
ø.500±.006
thru hole
4x
is "4x" standard? or is "4 holes"?
is "thru hole" standard? i always add it to clarify.
i know each company has general standards, my particular one doesn't, i am supposed to define them.
check out our whitepaper library.
my understanding is that it should read:
4x ø.500±.006
i always add thru for clarity.

this was discussed in another thread, asme y14.5 standard for multiple location callouts:
4x Ø.500
the tolerance alters the dimesion value, so it becomes
4x Ø.500±.006
i've always included " - thru" but i don't believe that this is part of the spec...someone clarify for both of us please?
of course iso does it all differently...

i guess "thru" makes more sense, in case i have a slot or something.
if you have an "i" beam and you want to cut a hole in the top surface, but not the bottom surface.
i would normally add
"thru one surface onyly"
is there a standard for this also?
i always use thru, if not, sometimes a inexperienced machinist will call and ask. for dim's "4x Ø.500" is correct per asme y14.5 1994. you do not need gd&t thru position for the holes if it is a sheetmetal part, only for linear alignment....hope this makes since (i have a headache)
as far i know, the "4x" was adopted from metric standards. i do not know how exactly iso handles this situation, but in those metric standards which i used, the dimension would be 4x12.7±0.15
metric standards try to avoid descriptions like "thru",
not everybody who will work with the drawing will speak the language of the drafter. the section view with dimension should show how deep the hole is, or if it is thru.

i agree, you are correct gearguru. if there is a section view showing the thru holes, you do not type "thru" next to the dim. standard drafting practices.
