problem reading xrecords
problem reading xrecords
hi,
i am trying to read xrecords, but i cannot access the data stored in these xrecords.
the structure of my file is like this:
in the namedobjects dictionary there is a dictionary named mydictionary2 which contains the xrecords myxrecord_0 and ..._1.
the code to access the data in the xrecord is as follows:
oddbdictionaryptr pnameddict = m_pdb->getnamedobjectsdictionaryid().safeopenobject();
if( pnameddict.get() )
{
oddbdictionaryptr pmydict = oddbdictionary::cast( pnameddict->getat( "mydictionary2" ).openobject() );
if( pmydict.get() )
{
oddbxrecordptr pxrecordptr = oddbxrecord::cast( pmydict->getat("myxrecord_0").openobject() );
odresbuf *xiter = pxrecordptr.get()->rbchain();
for (; xiter != 0; xiter = xiter->next())
{
int code = xiter->restype();
}
}
}
the program crashes when trying to access the restype of xiter because it doesn't contain valid data.
am i doing something wrong here, or is this a bug?
thanks for help!

attached files
oddbdictionaryptr pnameddict = pdb->getnamedobjectsdictionaryid().safeopenobject();
if( pnameddict.get() )
{
/**/oddbdictionaryptr pmydict = oddbdictionary::cast( pnameddict->getat( "mydictionary2" ).safeopenobject());
/**/if( pmydict.get() )
/**/{
/*****/oddbxrecordptr pxrecordptr = oddbxrecord::cast( pmydict->getat("myxrecord_0").safeopenobject());
/*****/odresbufptr xiter = pxrecordptr->rbchain();
/*****/for (; !xiter.isnull() != 0; xiter = xiter->next())
/*****/{
/********/int code = xiter->restype();
/*****/}
/**/}
}
... spacers make it look strange

...now that you mentioned it: it seems that i lost all spaces during copying the code - sorry for that.

i just tried to read my file with the odreadex example (something which i should have done earlier...) - and it works.
so the bug is definitely on my side - i will look for it and post my results as soon as i found something.

i found it! the rbchain() functions return a odresbufptr which has to be converted to odresbuf before accessing it.
/*****/odresbufptr xiterptr = pxrecordptr->rbchain();
/*****/odresbuf *xiter = xiterptr;
/*****/for (; !xiter.isnull() != 0; xiter = xiter->next())
/*****/{
/********/int code = xiter->restype();
/*****/}
thanks for that!
thanks for posting your solution, torsten! that solves the same problem i was having!
cheers,
erle
