opening dwg without loading entities

opening dwg without loading entities
hi all,
is there a way to open a dwg file getting information only about its extension without loading all the entities?
i'm not sure that
code:
playout->getgeomextents( layext );
can work well if geometries are not loaded.
my goal is to render only the bounding box of the dwg file and not the dwg itself.

using partial load it's possible to get extents of a layout without loading other layouts. but entities from layout of interest will be loaded (and entities from blocks referenced from the layout).
