simple question about torqueing of stainless steel bolts
i would like to know what the coefficient of friction u, and the nut factor k, is for a nut tightening on a bolt, for stainless steel, on stainless steel. i have not been able to find this value. for mild steel on mild steel, gr 8.8 bolts :- u =0.15, and k = 0.2 if someone can clarify this, could you back it up with some sort of reference on the internet ? thanks, bertyyyyyboyyyy !!! mil hndbook 5 lists 301 sst as 0.27 for stainless nuts on stainless bolts you need to really look out for galling. if the nut and bolt are the same type of stainless with no specific anti-galling lubricant the stainless nut and bolt will virtually weld together under the torque and you will have to break them to get them apart. |
