roof structure of storage tank
hi,
i have to built a new storage tank d:44m, h:19m, fixed conic roof with floating screen according to api 650.
what is the adequate structure of the roof.
could be in steel profile ? or shall be with colomns?
i have doubt with the designer because he propose me a roof structure in steel profile ipe 270 without any columns.
i will be gratefull if you could advice me acording to your experience.

typical roof structure for a tank of those dimensions would use a center column and one or maybe two rows of outer columns. a large self-supporting roof will be more expensive, and would not normally be used without some specific reason.
