prying force on column flange
does anyone know of design guide for the analysis of prying forces on column flanges. i am anchoring a fall protection system to the column flange using one bolt and a d-ring. the cable is parallel to the flange and when loaded, it has an eccentricity of 1.5" from the face of the column flange. i believe i should convert this moment into a tension in the bolt and check the flange for prying (as opposed to local bending). i am looking into using the prying analysis in asd, but i think that the analysis is similar to attaching a pivoting jib crane to a column flange.
any input would be appreciated!
