min. reinforcement in masonry
i am working on a big masonry school and have some difficulty with understanding the exact requirements for reinforcement in masonry. one of the major locations is the gym walls that are 8.0m high and have sound blocks that prevent having rm columns except every 3.0 m. what is the solution for something like this? can you use an equivalent area of steel? [i.e. design requires 200 mm2/m so you take 600mm2 every 3m].
well i am familar with aci but it sounds like you are working with eu codes. you will need to consider the wall thickness (for restrictions on maximum flange thickness and unsupported height) and may need to use an approach as beto1 outlined. depending on your wall thickeness you may be able to keep it all rcm construction.
i just hang here (occasionally)
