maximum allowable beam-column kl/r
if you have chevron brace beams with bending & axial load, would you limit maximum beam-column kl/r to 200 or greater than 200 using equation e2-2?

by no chance you can use kl/r greater than 200 for a beam-column, even for bracing in compression.
the vertical support at middle doesn't change the lateral unsupported length of the beam.
the slenderness should not exceed 200. i generally brace the beam at the top and bottom flange at the apex of the chevron.
