masonry shear wall section modulus
masonry shear wall section modulus
can anyone direct me to a quick and dirty way to calculate and/or reference the section modulus (or moment of inertia) of a masonry wall not fully grouted (say 32" o.c.) for in plane bending.....? ncma-tek 14-1b for properties of various walls. you can use the est (equivalent solid thickness) for you "b" value, so it is like calculating the section modulus of a rectangle. for 8" masonry with cells grouted at 32" c/c the est would be 4.9". i got this value from the reinforced masonry engineering handbook by james amrhein |
