ibc 2006, asd allowed for foundation safety check???
i can see in ibc 2003, 1616.1, it clearly says "asd is permitted to evaluate sliding, overturning and soil bearing ..."
however, i could not find such sentence in ibc 2006. did i miss something??

i guess what i am trying to find out is that:
i understand that asd is what we used in practice for ftg safety check. however, i would like to find a standing point from the code ibc 2006 where it says clearly that asd is what we should use. i can find it in 2003 not in 2006
it's there- third paragraph of 1616.1, p. 354.
1804.1 design. the presumptive load-bearing values provided in table 1804.2 shall be used with the allowable stress design load combinations specified in section 1605.3.

there is no 1616.1 in 2006 version. i guess you mean in 2003, as i mentioned.

yes this is helpful but it is not clearly stated.

oops. i think i pulled out the 2000 version rather than the 2006 version. never mind!
