how to calculate shear and flexural strength of hollow preca
i am involved in a project using hollow precast beam. but i am only familiar with reinforced concrete beam. can i treat it the same way as concrete beams? how should i deal with those hollow holes which go through all the whole beam length? can you please also recommend me some good design books on these hollow precast beams?

it is a more efficient section. look at any precast book or even pci design handbook in teh hollow core plank section. removing concrete in the middle of the section removes a great deal of dead load and that concrete isn't contributing much to your igross and overall section properties, that is why it is a more efficient section.
