hi,
i am looking at an attic conversion. the guy wants to remove the two central internal members of a double fink truss. i appreciate truss engineering is specialist but has anyone any suggestions on the type of strengthening required? plywood gussets either side / reinforce the rafters (double and deepen), i dont think a ridge beam can be installed.
pretty sure you don't (cant') do this without adding some bearing walls etc. being a double fink truss leads me to believe it is over 30' span. this is usually not economically feasible as a retro fit. during construction -it can usually be accomodated fairly easily.
