i am a home designer. is there such an animal as a deflection calculator that will determine the design deflection of a specific steel beam section given known spans and loadings? i have access to span tables but they only list beam sections that match a given span/load criteria to meet an acceptable deflection. i would prefer to size beams (residential applications only) for desired deflection values.
