beam column lateral brace
please comment on proper assumptions of chevron brace beam columns. i have 12" beams with roof trusses at 2' o/c. should the ly=2' for the bottom flange or the entire beam length? where i have a chevron brace beam column with a sheathed truss runnung in the same direction, would ly be the entire length? how do you get to yura's 1999 papers on aisc bookstore? i tried to access them but could not find them. many thanks!!
for axial force, i would assume ly = the entire length of the beam. for bending, i would assume the same thing, and take advantage of the cb factor.
