applicable dead loads
i'm looking for a reference book that would have the common dead loads for building materials for a wood frame house. such items as 2x4 stud walls with sheetrock, etc.
check out our whitepaper library.
check the ansi/asce standard 7-88 "minimum design loads for buildings and other structures." i think there may be a newer release (7-93?), but it should steer you in the right direction.
"time-saver standards for architectural design data" by john callender has lots of good, building stuff in it.
there is a release asce 7-95 and one about to be released asce 7-99. this is the industry wide bible for building loads.
thanks for your replies.
asce 7-02 lists 16 psf for 3/4" ceramic or quarry tile on 1/2" mortar bed. what do you use for the dead load in normal homes that have 3/8" tile with the backer board?
with the backer board grouted down and the grout for the tile you have about 1/2" of mortar, i'm assuming the 16 psf above includes the backer board.
part 6 of the aisc manual of steel construction.
check on the appendix in pci handbook, it has a table summarizing building material weights.
