what procedures does update() call?

i'm trying to convert windirectxmodule for my use.
especially, caching and buffering part.
what functions and what parts of those are called in according to "enablegsmodel()"?

are objects which are clipping passed over as arguments, each time "update()" is called?
if so, are those objects buffered in metafile in that time?
