unable to link dd_key.lib (2.3.0) on windows server 2003

using dd 2.3.0 for ds2005 sp1 with vc8md we cannot link dd_key.lib on windows server 2003. it links fine on windows xp.
according to our build expert vc8md dd_key.lib is created with the /gl compile option. creating it without /gl would probably solve the problem:
no, /gl is not used.
i'll try to find windows server 2003, to debug the problem.
what is the link error message you get?
