more solids than i expect....
more solids than i expect....
i'm using dwgdirect (1.14.01) to convert 3dsolids, proxies, and bodies to sat files. i've gotten a couple dwg files (i'm not sure what product was used to create them - one came to me from germany and one from japan) where opening the part in autocad shows me a single "block reference" that looks like a nice 3d solid part. if i use dwgdirect to cycle through the entities in the dwg file, i get 2 sat files in 1 case, and 3 in the other. these other solids whose sat data is in the dwg file are not visible at all! where did they come from? what magic attribute do they have that i can't see them in autodesk but they show up via dwgdirect? (yes - obentity::visibility() say's that they are kvisible).
also, one other strange thing is that when i open these dwg files in autocad and 'explode' the block reference, then there's nothing on the screen at all.
i am attaching the 2 dwg files. i have a couple confused customers who wonder why sat files are being dumped out for solids which do not appear to exist. maybe if i have mdt i might see something different, but for now i'm just a bit
attached files
there are proxy objects without graphics metafile in them.
exploded block is empty because it consists of the single proxy entity, that has cloning disabled in proxy flags.

that (perhaps) explains why 'explode' would erase everything, but i'd like to know if there's a way for me to ignore some of the solids - particularly to be able to ignore the ones that autocad and several dwg viewers never show! in the 11ok...dwg file, when you open it in autocad, you see a single part (a 'screw'). i can extract 2 sat files, one is the 'screw' and another is a completely different part that i can never see anywhere else except when extracting sat data via dwgdirect. is there some attribute i'm ignoring that tells me that i can ignore this other solid?
if you will open these files in mechanical desktop (or in any viewer with corresponding object enabler, if such exists), you will probably see more entities.
to ignore them - check if the object is a proxy, and if it is - whether it has proxy graphics stored with it.
