how do i check if a layer already exists in the drawing?
how do i check if a layer already exists in the drawing? before i actually create a layer in a drawing, how can i find out if that layer already exists in it ? andrew someone kindly answered my question by private email. the answer is to use the layer table pointer and its "has" method. this might have sounded like an obvious question, and that i hadn't bothered to look in the help file. but i would like to point out this was not the case. as a legacy user, i have legacy concepts in my head. the legacy toolkit used methods with "find" in the function names. thus i was searching for "find" in the help system. could i ask for a small document to be created to maybe identify the basic differences between legacy and dwgdirect? an article to pint out things of this nature. i appreciate that so much works has gone into this library and i am very impressed. but as some say, "the question is only easy if you know the answer". rant over.. andrew |
