tolerance on arc length
hi all- i'm wondering if there is any kind of odd tolerance scheme referring to an arc length. my first instinct is to treat it as a linear value and tolerance accordingly, but i want to make sure there isn't anything i'm missing. i looked through the forums, and couldn't find anything on this. any and all help is appreciated. thanks, v mechanical engineer "when i am working on a problem, i do not think of beauty, but when i've finished, if the solution is not beautiful, i know it is wrong." - r. buckminster fuller find a job or post a job opening arc length is a linear value. vcastro66, i take it you are trying to apply tolerances on the drawing? look up profile tolerances. these handle weirdness far better than linear +/- tolerances. jhg agree with tick for the question as posed. you said in another post that you work to asme y14.5m-1994, take a look at 1.8.3/fig 1.26 and then look at the first few pages of section 2 if it's a more complex shape or similar then drawoh makes a good point. kenat, probably the least qualified checker you'll ever meet... got it! one circular arc, and a few odd arcs. thanks for the help all! v mechanical engineer "when i am working on a problem, i do not think of beauty, but when i've finished, if the solution is not beautiful, i know it is wrong." - r. buckminster fuller |
