liner vs drill bushings...
what is the difference between liner and drill bushings?
check out our whitepaper library.
they're both used in tooling. liners or liner bushings are used to save jigs, where you have to change the bushings often. to seee a picture of them, click on drill bushings, at the us shop tools site below.
can drill and liner bushings be used interchangeably?
no they can’t be used interchangeably. a drill bushing is used to locate and guide a drill or reamer. the inside diameter is made to close tolerances. a liner is what the outside diameter of the drill bushing fits into. they are not always used.
this is highly specialized work and you i think should obtaind the services of a tool and die maker.
from what i understand, a liner locates removable pins etc. in the fixture to hold assemblies in the correct location.  in my application, it has to be a close tolerance wear resistant bushing to improve life of the fixture.  the drill bushing guides the drill in the machining operation.  the bushing diameter must be close tolerance to keep the drill from drifting and creating a hole out of location and also must be wear resistant.  they both seem to be close tolerance wear resistant bushings which makes me confused as their possible interchangability
