din iso 2768 and 1302 questions
i have some drawings from germany that spec din iso 2768 and 1302.  is anyone familliar with this?  some of the prints have surface call outs with a range of the following: xw,x,y,z  no one i work with is familar with din.
my other question has to do with dimension tolerances. the drawing will show a dimension like this: 600,5+1+.5 or  320-2
is this a fit tolerance?
any help or link to some information would be great!
thanks
din 2768 "general tolerances" has 2 parts:
part 1 :tolerances for linear and angular dimensions without individual tolerace indications
part 2 : geometrical tolerances for features without individual tolerance indications
(basically "unless otherwise specified", but be carefull - you need the standard and read it, it specifies different "tolerance classes" and many other details.)
the surface finish described by letters is comon for some large automakers in the europe. you need the company's standard to decipher the meaning of the letters. the company should give you free access to their standards if you make parts for them.
the tolerancing: 600,5+1+.5 means 601.5/601.0
(the + and - tolerances does not have to be the same, they do not even have to be + and - ; simply add or subtract them to/from the basic dimension, basic dimension is 600.5 in your example)
320-2 means 320/318
(the zero tolerance is not shown)
both ways to show the tolerances are common on metric drawings.
to be exact - the standard i am talking about in previous post is iso 2768
din iso 2768 is the same.
